The world is on the edge of its seat as Hollywood brings to life one of the most beloved video games of all time in the upcoming movie, “Uncharted.” The film, set to release on July 16, 2021, follows the adventure of treasure hunter Nathan Drake as he searches for a lost city in the Amazon with his mentor, Victor Sullivan.
But this movie isn’t just any ordinary action-adventure flick. No, it’s a gripping tale of perseverance and friendship that will leave you breathless. And with an all-star cast including Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan, viewers can expect nothing less than excellence.
What makes “Uncharted” unique is its storyline. It’s not just about the hunt for treasure; it’s about personal growth and the evolution of relationships. Director Ruben Fleischer said that “the heart and soul of [the story] is really their relationship,” referring to Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan.

But what grabbed my attention was Holland himself taking part in stunts! In an interview with IGN, Holland said he did about 90% of his own stunts for “Uncharted.”
“I did nearly everything myself,” Holland revealed. “There were a few things that I wasn’t allowed to do, you know, insurance-wise. But 90% of the stunts in the movie are practical and done by me.”
If that’s not dedication to a role, I don’t know what is.
In terms of production, “Uncharted” began filming in early 2020 but was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production eventually resumed in July 2020 and wrapped up in October of that year.
One thing that sets this movie apart from other action-adventure films is its score. The film’s composer, Henry Jackman, has composed for many popular movies including “Kong: Skull Island” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” He promised fans an epic score that would stay true to the game while also adding a unique twist.
“I’m trying to create a score for ‘Uncharted’ which is new and fresh but also pays homage to [the game] because it has such a beloved fan base,” Jackman told Variety.
It’s safe to say that fans of the game are eagerly anticipating this film’s release. With over 41 million copies sold worldwide since its debut in 2007, “Uncharted” has become one of gaming’s biggest franchises. And while there have been talks of an adaptation for years (with David O. Russell originally attached as director), it wasn’t until now that one actually came to fruition.
But with such high expectations from fans and critics alike, can “Uncharted” live up to the hype? Only time will tell, but if the recent trailer is anything to go by, it seems like this film will be one wild adventure.
So mark your calendars for July 16th and get ready for a journey into the unknown. Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan are waiting.
