Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to let out a hearty laugh as Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have done it again with their latest creation, “Sausage Party.” This is a movie that’s bound to leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about food in the most hilarious manner. If you’re an adult who is looking for something fresh, funny and downright crazy, then this is the movie for you.
The plot revolves around the lives of grocery store items including Frank (Seth Rogen), the sausage, Brenda (Kristen Wiig), the hot dog bun and Sammy Bagel Jr. (Edward Norton), a traditional Jewish bagel. They all live in harmony in the grocery store and dream of being chosen by customers so they can go to “the great beyond,” which is considered a paradise where they’ll live happily ever after.
As fate would have it, Frank and Brenda end up getting separated from their packages while shopping with their new owners. They soon realize that life outside of the grocery store isn’t quite what they thought it would be when they come across some horrifying discoveries. The journey to go back home becomes an adventure full of laughs, cringes and confusing conversations.
The movie’s animation style is nothing shy of impressive as each item in the grocery store comes alive with its unique personality. The details on every single character are spot on and will leave you feeling like these characters are actual human beings with genuine emotions.
The screenplay was written by an assembly of talented writers who made sure to incorporate modern-day issues such as religion, sexuality, race relations, politics and above all else – existentialism – into an otherwise silly plotline that will leave you thinking about things long after leaving the theater.
